Some ideas couldn't see the light of the day due to "What will people say?" mentality. The late Dr. Myles Munroe once claimed that the graveyard is the richest location on earth since there are books, music, inventions, and innovations that have never been made or discovered there.
One person that inspires me is Elon Musk. He nonetheless succeeded in creating Space X despite opposition while doing so. I watched him almost cry in an interview. Three times the rocket blew off and he almost went bankrupt, but despite all the odds he still chose to go ahead and made it a reality. According to Forbes, the current effective valuation of Space X is $127 billion.
"A lot of people really only heard of SpaceX relatively recently, they may think Falcon 9 and Dragon just instantly appeared and that's how it always was. But it wasn't," says Musk, referring to the current SpaceX rockets.
"We started off with just a few people who really didn't know how to make rockets," the CEO of SpaceX says. The Hawthorne, Calif.-based aeronautics company was founded in 2002 to "revolutionize space technology" and enable multiplanitary human existence.
"And the reason I ended up being the chief engineer or chief designer was not because I wanted to, it was because I couldn't hire anyone. Nobody good would join. So I ended up being that by default."
SpaceX very nearly ran out of money, recalls Musk.
"I messed up the first three launches. The first three launches failed. And fortunately the fourth launch, which was, that was the last money that we had for Falcon 1. That fourth launch worked. Or it would have been — that would have been it for SpaceX. But fate liked us that day. So, the fourth launch worked," says Musk. (Catherine Clifford; September 29 2017, CNBC.com).
One of the lessons I've learned about life is that whatever you do or aim to do, make sure it comes from the deepest place within you, free from outside pressure, in order to be happy. Do not act under the influence of someone else's motivation, out of retaliation, or to prove a point. If you're happy to do it, then do it. So that you can succeed in spite of all obstacles, let your "Why" be a strong personal motivator.
