Cook The Idea
In 2017, I supported a friend who had just started a creative agency. I had to relocate to Portharcourt where the agency will be based (Portharcourt is the capital of Rivers State in Nigeria). He introduced me to a Chef who needed help with his personal branding. We went to see the chef at his place of work, and as I watched him setup a buffet on a Sunday afternoon I was curious to know more about what it takes to be a chef and I had the opportunity to ask him some questions.
Every chef does have a unique menu that required several different experiments before the final dish was created. As a result of their experimentation, they had to buy a variety of ingredients to test out their novel concept; they will then make the meal and serve it to guests in order to hear their opinion, and they keep iterating the process until they are happy with the results. I applaud each chef's innovation in coming up with a fresh menu and their methods for serving the meal; they don't simply give you food; they also design the methods. I once persuaded myself in a restaurant that the artistic effort and design that went into the food from preparation to serving were what I had actually paid for, not the meal itself..lol. To create a difference in what they do, they engage in what I call an unrelenting creative process, which involves their commitment to testing before it is widely recognized and sold as food. By cooking that idea after their tireless creative process and having faith that it will pay off, the chef demonstrates a mindset that we can imitate.
You need to believe in your idea. Numerous barriers may arise to prevent you from cooking, but if you overcome them, the idea will undoubtedly be profitable for you and set you apart from the competition. The creative process has to commence by your action, every prepared food pass through a process and every process is as a result of an action taken. Take the bold step to start working on your idea. I use the word “idea” in the single because focusing your attention on just one thing at a time is necessary to make a difference. Each chef tries their hardest to come up with a special, one-of-a-kind menu. They invest all of their energy into it, invite their coworkers to try it, listen to their feedback, and make any necessary adjustments before they can finally add it to the menu list.
Consider all of your ideas and rank them according to importance. Which of the ideas, in your opinion, has more personal and global significance? Then, rather than focusing your energy elsewhere, you channel it toward the option that will provide you with the highest return on investment. Designers concentrate on the current concept and make sure it functions rather than working on several concepts at once. Ensure your idea thrives so that it can benefit both you and other people.
The ability to solve problems has come to represent success. There is an issue if you are not earning as much as you would like to. You simply need to find a solution if you are not experiencing the levels of health and fitness that you want. Any barrier that stands in the way of achieving your objective is just an issue that has to be solved. Any obstacle preventing you from reaching your full potential is merely another challenge you need to overcome. Your responsibility in any situation is to take control of the issue rather than let it control you.
I'll end with a quote from Brian Tracy: “A goal that you have not yet achieved is merely a problem that you have not yet solved”.
Next I will be sharing on recognizing the opposition to creativity.
