When I Facilitate design thinking/Sprint session, there's a part of the process referred to as "Ideation," a similar term for ideation is Brainstorming. We ideate when we are certain about a particular problem statement. For instance: "How might we create an efficient food delivery system through a mobile application?" As the Facilitator I allow the participants of the Sprint come up with different ideas that could be a solution to the problem; this method is referred to as divergent thinking. I stick the ideas shared on a white board, then we go through the ideas and try to streamline to the one we should prototype. So I subject the process to voting and allow a decision maker, which can likely be the CEO make the final call. This later method can be referred to as convergent thinking.
